Job Description Responsibilities
Tasks
• Prepare engineering designs and drawings
• Develop and prepare design sketches
• Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates
• Write technical reports
• Write specifications
• Estimate costs and materials
• Complete documentation packages and drawing sets
• Examine drawings for conformity and errors
• Consult with client, engineers or production specialists to establish product requirements
• Read and interpret blueprints/sketches/specifications
• Using computer aided design and drafting (CADD) tools and software (AutoCAD), create and/ or modify technical interior design drawing sets, including Floor Plans, Furniture Plans, Interior Elevations, Sections, & Details, Reflected Ceiling Plans, Electrical Plans, Millwork & Furniture Drawings, and any other drawings required for interior design plan and specification integration.
• Provide technical expertise and support in computer aided design and drafting (CADD) within the interior design department.
• Support interior designers in planning and drafting plans.
• Analyze, review, and mark-up technical drawings developed by Drafting Technicians and Interior Designers.
• Review Shop Drawings.
• Provide training, support, and guidance to Drafting Technicians.
• Improve and maintain current interior design Drafting standards, templates, systems, and processes; support the creation of technical specifications and manuals.
• Coordinate with other disciplines for document, system, and process alignment; serve as liaison between Architectural (Permitting) and Interior Design groups.
• Research local, national, and international Building Code and American Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, aligned to project locations across Canada and the USA.
• Understand design principles, qualities of materials, and ergonomic factors.
• Maintain accurate records and documents of all CADD work.
• Participate in project meetings.
• Apply strong working knowledge of computer aided design (AutoCAD) software programs.
• Utilize strong problem-solving skills, and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Performs other duties as required
