- Prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage
- Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.
- Use various heavy-duty tools and equipment
- Study plans, specifications, or drawings of articles to be made
- Able to read and translate permit drawings
- Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form the complete unit and reinforce joints
- Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain, or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics
- Apply varnish, veneer, stain, or polish to finished products
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Estimate costs and materials
- Repair or restyle wooden furniture, fixtures, and related products
