Job Details Personal Support Worker/Caregiver for an Elderly Woman

The Rosenmann family is currently seeking a full-time PSW or Caregiver for our elderly mother. She is suffering from cognitive and functional decline consistent with Alzheimer disease and suffers from chronic low back pain, left hip pain, and long-standing history of depression, to name a few. She also had a fall in April 2024 resulting in a hip fracture.
Your job duties:
• Watch and ensure that patient is always safe and taken care of as she is at risk of falling
• Administer bedside and personal care to our mother which may include bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing and undressing
• Plan and prepare meals and special diets, as instructed by her family doctor
• Assist in administration of medications, as instructed by her family doctor
• Perform routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes and making beds
• Communicate with our family of any changes in behaviour or health
What we are looking for:
• Someone patient and understanding – this is a demanding position and we would be assisting in every way we can
• We are not looking for someone with years of experience as we welcome anyone with a good heart – of course prior experience would be an asset
• Some high school education plus first-aid certification and training certification in caregiving would be an asset
• Good English language skills
• Ability to work under pressure and under minimal supervision
• Flexibility – we might have to ask you to come in on weekends and night time to look after our mother
What we are offering:
• Hourly rate of $19.00 for at least 40 hours per week, overtime rate of $28.50 applies after 44 hours of work per week
• Temporary, full-time position – in-person position
• Main work location – North York, M2N 6M4 – please do not apply in-person
• Assistance in finding affordable and suitable housing near the work place, if needed
• Transportation costs – if you require to travel to Canada, we would be paying for transportation costs to and from your country of origin
• Private health insurance until you become eligible for OHIP coverage
