Job Details Silcoff, Shacter is looking for a legal assistant with experience in an immigration law firm to
join our team.
Responsibilities
• Preparing and revising drafts of immigration forms and portals, including applications for
temporary resident visas, sponsorship, economic applications, Labour Market Impact
Assessment, Humanitarian and Compassionate ground applications, and refugee claims
• Collecting necessary documents and evidence from clients, and organizing their files up-to-
date
• Compiling submission packages in support of immigration applications and submitting them
to the relevant governmental bodies
• Drafting correspondence with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
• Conducting client intake by collecting documents, opening files and scheduling meetings
with clients.
• Responding to emails and phone calls from clients and forwarding them correspondence
relevant to their files
• Performing administrative duties and providing clerical support, including overseeing office
supplies and equipment
Preparing bank transfers and monthly bank reconciliation drafts
Billing clients through PC Law and billing Legal Aid Ontario

Job Description Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an immigration and refugee law firm
• Experience working with PC Law and Legal Aid Ontario billing systems and experience preparing bookkeeping records
Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks different tasks working under deadlines
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office and ability to navigate government portals

Education:
Post-secondary education as a paralegal, law clerk, or an immigration consultant.
