Crop Defenders Ltd. has an opening for a full time Biological Laboratory Technologist at our location in Maidstone, Ontario! We are looking for someone reliable, who is flexible to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. The candidate must also have an ability to multitask multiple projects simultaneously.

Job Summary
Position Title: Biological Laboratory Technologist (NOC 2221)
Positions Available: 5
Starting Date: As soon as possible
Work Schedule: 40 hours per week
Salary: $26.97 per hour

4% vacation pay

Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform various technical functions in support of insect/animal breeding and care according to company standards;
• Conduct and/or supervise laboratory studies such as ecotoxicology and toxicology-based studies. These include: residue studies, both in vivo and in vitro toxicity, and environmental toxicity studies on aquatic and terrestrial organisms;
• Perform biological, microbiological, and biochemical tests and laboratory analyses;
• Assist in conducting laboratory research and trials to collect data and samples;
• Assist in analysis of data and preparation of reports;
• Write, develop, implement, and supervise standard operating procedures according to GLP guidelines.

Employment Requirements
[Education]
• Diploma or certificate in related field OR more than five years hands-on experience in producing/breeding/rearing insects and/or animals
[Experience]
• at least 3 years of experience with a certificate in related field OR at least 5 years’ working experience in mass production of insects
• Experience in producing Sitotroga an asset.
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
