Position: Resource Consultant, Child Care Services
Full-time Permanent
The Resource Consultant on the Child Care Services Team provides services to children, birth to school entry, with developmental and/or mental health challenges in early childhood settings and homes; participates with families and Early Childhood Educators in developing and implementing an individual family plan; provides developmental assessments, recommendations, behavioural support plans and parent education on typical and atypical child development; provides classroom consultation to child care staff as they support the child(ren) using the How Does Learning Happen pedagogy.
Job Description
Qualifications:
• Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution, and registration in the College of Early Childhood Educators
• Experience working with children from birth to age six, including those with developmental delays and psychosocial challenges
• Knowledge of behaviour guidance principles and family systems issues
• Understanding of family-centered principles and ability to work effectively with parents/caregivers
• Experience working with children with behavior challenges and providing consultation to their families
• Experience in licensed child care centre environments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• An understanding of How Does Learning Happen, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the early years would be valuable
• Proficiency in French is considered an asset
