Farm Foreman / Woman
Siegrist Harvesting inc is looking for an experienced Farm Forman / Woman to join our team.
Siegrist Harvesting inc is a custom farming business located in the east end of Ottawa Ontario. We Provide Custom harvesting, mowing, merging, bailing, stalk chopping, and manure spreading.
We are also raising broiler chickens under the Chicken Farmers of Ontario Artisanal Chicken program.
To be a successful Farm Foreman/ Woman, you should demonstrate a passion for the outdoors, knowledge of agriculture, machinery, and physical stamina.
Ultimately, a top-notch Farm Foreman/ Woman should possess physical strength, ability to work long hours, good hand-eye coordination, and a keen interest in agriculture
The right candidate would start immediately. Cell phone, housing, one meal a day, and a vehicle to commute locally will be provided.
30hrs and week minimum, $20hr.
Job Description Foreman / Woman Responsibilities:
Crop Responsibilities:
- Assist with on and off farm safety protocols. Ensure employees are following farm safety protocols and suggest improvements.
- Assist in farm bio- security. Ensure all bio-security measures are being followed and suggest ways to improve flaws in the bio-security.
- Maintain quality control and production records:
o On and off farm accident / injury reports
o Inoculant usage per job
o Records of field mowed, merged and harvested
o Record tonnage of manure applied to fields
o Equipment maintenance records
- Provide harvesting services to clients, check fields for maturity of crops.
- Talk with clients about when fields are ready to be harvested, plan for next harvest.
- Co-ordinate, assign and supervise the work of harvesting labours.
- Train workers to operate and maintain machinery.
Broiler Poultry Responsibilities:
- Assist in farm bio- security. Ensure all bio-security measures are being followed and suggest ways to improve flaws in the bio-security.
- Keep Records
o Bio-Security records, visitors / deliveries/ poultry records
o Record growth of poultry, amount of feed given, and mortality rates.
o On farm accident / injury reports
- Disinfect poultry houses between flocks.
- Design feeding programs
- Design pasture rotation programs
Foreman / Woman Requirements:
Previous experience in the agriculture industry.
Knowledge of agriculture best practices.
Clean driving record.
Able to work long hours.
Good communication skills.
Must be physically fit.
Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Must be able to run agriculture equipment.
Must provide references.
Experience in management and able to operate all machinery is a must.
