Job Type
• Permanent employment, Full time 35 to 40 hours per week.
Employment requirements
• Have a current B.C. Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) Certificate.
• Completion of secondary school.
• A valid First Aid Certification.
• An up-to-date record of immunizations.
• Have a clear Criminal Record Check.
• Previous experience working with children in a child care/recreation setting (at least 2 years).
• English language ability.
• Spanish (conversational level) would be an asset.
• 2 Professional References
• Up to date resume.
Main duties and responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
• Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
• Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts.
• Arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
• Assist with proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
• Submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors.
• Maintain daycare equipment.
• Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
• May assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records.
• Provide supervision and guidance of children's daily activities.
• Creating a positive setting for children to learn.
• Maintain a healthy, neat, clean, and functional environment in all activity and program areas (sweeping, disinfecting tables, toys, etc.)
• Implement the Centre policies and BC childcare regulations.
• Liaise with Manager/Owner, parents, and fellow staff members in a positive, professional, and timely manner.
• Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the Centre, staff, children, and their families.
