JOB DETAILS

 

Location: Delta (Greater Vancouver) British Columbia, V4K 3Z9

Terms of employment:  Permanent, Full Time

Start date: As soon as possible

Employment Conditions: Day, Evening, Weekend

Typical work schedule is Monday to Friday 8:00AM to 4:30PM, however availability required for occasional evening and weekend work, as well as willingness to travel with family on vacation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

Languages: English

 

Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

 

Experience: 3 year to less than 5 years

 

Children's Ages:  Toddler to pre-school (1 - 3 years); Kindergarten age (4 - 5 years); Infant (3 months - 18 months) and   School age (6 - 12 years)

 

Credentials:

·         Police Information Check - Vulnerable Sector (vulnerable sector check)

·         Emergency Child Care First Aid Certificate

·         Certificate in Childcare Training Program or related field

·         References required

 

Work Setting:  Employer's home

 

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver's license; Willing to travel

 

Personal Suitability: Effective interpersonal skills; Flexibility; Excellent oral communication; Reliability

 

Job Duties/Required Skills:

  • Supervise and care for children in employer's residence
  • Supervise and care for multi-aged group of children
  • Bathe, dress and feed infants and children

·         Prepare formulas and change diapers for infants

  • Prepare infants and children for rest periods
  • Plan, prepare and serve meals for children and may perform other housekeeping duties
  • Oversee children's activities, such as meals and rest periods, as instructed by employer
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in the home
  • Instruct children in personal hygiene
  • Tend to the emotional well-being of children and support their social development
  • Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
  • Organize and participate in activities such as games, crafts, reading and outings
  • Take children to and from school and appointments
  • May be required to keep records of daily activities and health information regarding each child

 

Additional Duties / Skills:

  • Travel with family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping duties
  • Swimming
  • Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
  • Wash, iron and press clothing and household linens
  •  Assume full responsibility for household in absence of parents

 

COMPENSATION: Please note that wage will be subject to the prevailing wage in the BC lower mainland for NOC 4411 if raised above current wage offered at the time of hiring.

Salary: $19.00/hour for 40 hours a week.

Overtime: To be paid in keeping with provincial employment standards
