Halibut House Fish & Chips, Food Service Supervisor

Today, Halibut House sources only quality ingredients using local Ontario potatoes for their fresh cut fries and using only wild and sustainably caught, chemical free fish. We are seeking a reliable Food Service Supervisor who will supervise store staff while maintaining a fully-stocked inventory and complying with safety and cleanliness standards. The Food Service Supervisor will ensure all plates are properly cooked and served and our customers have a pleasant dining experience.
As a Food Service Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:
?Assign and coordinate work of store staff in order to ensure compliance with Halibut House’s regulatory policies and work efficiency in food preparation and customer service
?Supervise, assign, and coordinate work of staff to ensure all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the store’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards
?Deal with customer-staff disputes, and report customer feedback to the owner
?Maintain inventory accuracy and ensure each area has appropriate raw material supplies and working equipment
?Keep staff time records. Schedule work shifts for staff to ensure labor and resources are allocated wisely during peak times and slow times
?Order materials, supplies, and ingredients based on demand, communicate effectively with suppliers in cases of immediate needs
?Prepare order summaries for chef
?Calculate ingredient and labor costs, prepare forecast and actual budget function sheets, and report sales and wastage to the owner on a monthly basis
?Assist in recruiting and training staff on safe operation of all equipments, cleanliness and sanitation practices, prep work, food plating techniques, etc.
?Assist in planning, assigning, and supervising cleaning activities and check catering equipment on a regular basis to ensure kitchen is clean and organized and all equipment is in good working order
?Perform chef duties when required
Required education: secondary (high school) diploma
Required experience: minimum 2 years of experience in the food services industry with the ability to supervise five to ten people
Other requirements:
?Proven experience in managing food and labour costs
?Solid knowledge of food preparation and handling
?Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen standards and systems (food safety, handwashing, hairnets, production sheets, portioning, recipes, temperature logs, etc.)
?Must be willing to work flexible hours and on weekends
?Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in English
?Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
?Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
?Meticulous attention to detail and food quality control
Job Type: full-time (35 hours/week), contract
Salary: $17/ hour
