Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English is required
- Completion of secondary (high) school is required
- 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a pastry cook in an established restaurant is required
- Knowledge of Japanese ingredients and baking experience in traditional Japanese sweets and pastries is an asset
Job duties:
- Prepare seasonal confections such as Green Tea Opera, Fresh Fruit Almond Tart, Matcha Bread and Foie Gras Miso Pâte;
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances;
- Plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies;
- Inspect kitchens and food service areas;
- Train and supervise kitchen staff in preparation, baking and handling of food;
- Order ingredients, supplies and equipment;
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment;
- Clean kitchen and work areas
