Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate orally in English is required
- Completion of secondary (high) school is required
- 2 years to less than 3 years of work experience as a cook in an established restaurant is required
- Experience of working in a Japanese restaurant and/or knowledge on Japanese cuisine is an asset
Job duties:
- Prepare and present Nigiri Sushi, Aburi Oshi Sushi (torched and pressed Sushi), Sashimi, and Sushi Rolls;
- Prepare, cook, and present Japanese appetizers and dishes such as Tofu or Seaweed Salad, Aburi Beef Carpaccio, Chicken Nanban, Saikyo Miso Baked Fish, and Tempura;
- Prepare and present Kaiseki (feature course menu);
- Suggest and plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs;
- Train and supervise kitchen staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food;
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment;
- Order food/ingredients, supplies, and equipment;
- Clean and inspect kitchen and work areas
